The "Standard & Poor's 500 Index" rose to a new record during trading on Monday, December 27, 2021, after strong retail sales confirmed the strength of the US economy as it overshadowed fears of flight cancellations due to the new Omicron mutator at the beginning of the last trading week of this year.
The start was from the minutes of the first session, as S&P 500 Index rose 22.82 points, or 0.48%, to 4748.61 points, and in the same context, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 114.80 points, or 0.32%, to 36065.36, and the Nasdaq Composite Index increased 78.09 points, or 0.50. to 15,731.46 points.
Eight of the eleven major sector indices listed in the Standard & Poor's 500 rose, while technology and healthcare stocks were the top losers.
