Trump stops helping Palestinians and Biden returns
Biden returns aid to Palestinians again |
After former US President "Donald Trump" withheld aid to the Palestinians, the new American administration "Joe Biden administration" resumed providing aid to Palestine.
The Badin administration referred the decision to the "Congress" stating the resumption of aid to the Palestinians. About $ 235 million will be provided, divided into:
- An amount of $ 150 million is provided through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
- $ 75 million in economic support.
- $ 10 million for economic development.
The aid will be provided as part of the US efforts for the new administration to repair relations that nearly collapsed between the two sides during President Trump's rule.
We also find that the decision angered the "Zionist entity," and in the first reaction to Washington's decision, the ambassador of the Zionist entity to Washington expressed his "disappointment" after the United States announced the resumption of its assistance to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The Palestinian economy and major challenges facing the current administration
If we look at the "Palestinian economy", we find that it witnessed a sharp decline that reached 12% during the year 2020, with most economic activities witnessing a decline in value-added. Here are the most important figures on the economy of occupied Palestine.
- More than 66,000 people have stopped working in 2020, which raised the unemployment rate to 27.8%.
- Decrease in per capita GDP by 14%.
- It is expected that the poverty rate in Palestine will reach 27.5% by the end of this year.
