China's inflation rate stabilized in July |
China's inflation rate stabilized in July, while the producer price index (PPI) continued to contract amid persistently weak domestic demand and increasing trade uncertainty.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics released on Saturday, August 9, the consumer price index (CPI) remained flat year-on-year, compared to a slight increase of 0.1% in June, exceeding the Reuters poll's forecast of a 0.1% contraction.
On a monthly basis, the index rose 0.4%, following a 0.1% contraction in June, which was higher than the 0.3% forecast.
Conversely, the producer price index contracted 3.6% year-on-year, matching the contraction rate in June and higher than analysts' expectations of a 3.3% contraction.
